CANADA DATA: Retail sales -0.4% in June vs +0.2% in May. On an
annual basis sales +1.7% in June vs +3.0% in May. Retail activity was
lower in 7 of 11 sub-sectors in June, accounting for 64% of retail
trade. The decrease resulted from lower sales at gasoline stations
(-1.3%), building material and garden equipment and supplies dealers
(-2.1%), motor vehicle and parts dealers (-0.4%), general merchandise
stores (-1.5%) and furniture and home furnishing stores (-0.5%). An
increase in sales at food and beverages stores (+0.5%)along with sales
at electronics and appliance stores (+1.1%) helped moderate the decline.
