The Canada wholesale sales data for September came out weaker than expected at -0.1% for the month vs. expectations of +0.2%. The prior month showed a decline of -0.1%.
The estimate ranged from -0.3% to +0.6%. So the number was more toward the weakest estimates.
- Sales ex auto and parts rose +0.5%
- Inventories fell -0.4%
- The largest upside contributor was the computer and communications category at 0.4%
- The largest downside contributor was the motor vehicle and parts category at -0.5%
The USDCAD has moved higher and currently tests the 200 hour MA at the 1.3292 level.
