Canadian prime minister Harper is not talking trash regarding the economy. If anything, he is trying to keep uncertainty high. He says the recovery while it exists, is extremely fragile. The job market faces challenges and one cannot truly say the recession is truly over.

Harper, owing to unique domestic political challenges, has to convince Canadians that the economy is getting better but that it still needs his sure hand at the tiller. The Liberals would like to dump Harper overboard and take credit for the inevitable recovery after the worst economic squall in generations.
