Canadian international merchandise trade:
- Prior was -$2.7B (revised to -$2.49B)
- Exports +0.4%
- Imports -0.7%
Some better trade numbers will please the Bank of Canada but you'd like to see it improving on strong exports, not sliding imports.
A weak currency, however, is usually felt first in imports. It takes a longer time for exporters to invest, ramp up, and sell.
