Hardly a week now passes without a few major pronouncements from the Chinese Government or the PBOC on the state of domestic and international affairs. Yesterday they held forth on the need fro a new international currency whilst last week they questioned the ability of the US to repay its debts. Today the PBOC are clearly stating that the Chinese economy has bottomed out. The prospect of social unrest is perhaps greater in China than in many other parts of the world so of course the Chinese authorities must try and reassure their own populace that there are more good times ahead.
What is interesting though is the number of strong opinions now starting to emanate from Shanghai and Beijing. The Chinese now realise that they have become an increasingly important factor in future world prosperity and they are using this new-found status to promote themselves to the position of global superpower.
