Xi Jinping is slated to take over the leadership of China in the coming months but he has fallen off the map since the beginning of the month, missing a number of scheduled meetings, including ones with Russia and Hilary Clinton.
In response to repeated questions from reporters on Monday, China’s foreign ministry appeared unable or unwilling to reveal Mr Xi’s whereabouts.
