Citigroup is looking to shift it's European retail banking HQ over to Ireland from the UK after Citibank International LTD was taken over by Citibank Europe PLC, which operates in Dublin
"Simplification" is the reason given by a Citi spokeswoman but others believe it is UK rules on banks holding higher cash reserves is a big factor in the decision
The move is not expected to lead to any job losses
