A preview of the Bank of Japan meeting ... they do come around quickly, don't they?
The BOJ policy meeting is a 2-dayer this month, and today is the last day.
There is no scheduled time for the meeting to finish and the announcement to be made - it'll happen when the BOJ is good and ready, thank-you very much.
As a guide, the announcement is usually in the 0230-0330GMT time window. The more there is to discuss and debate, the later the announcement comes .... but I expect it in that time window today.
But, while the time is uncertain, the result is not (unless we get a shock, of course!).
The latest Bloomberg survey shows that out of 37 economists surveyed XXX expect no change in monetary policy from today's meeting.
(OK, the 'XXX' is for you to guess at ... answers in the comments please.
But, let me give you a clue.
If your answer looks very much like an egg, you'll be correct.
OK, don't bother with the comments ... zero of 37 expecting any change)
The most excitement we've got from the BOJ and the USD/JPY were the comments from Bank of Japan Governor Kuroda last week that wiped more than a big figure from USD/JPY (and yen crosses, of course) ... and his clarification (his comments were not a judgment/prediction of the nominal exchange rate) this week which added not quite so much back on again.
