CPI fell 0.7% in December while the core came in unchanged. For the year 2008, CPI rose 0.1%, the smallest rise is 54 years. There was a wee bit of volatility along the way, one must recall, however.
EUR/USD is a shade firmer after the data, at 1.3294. Deflation fears should be eased slightly by this release.
