Darling kept spending under wraps ahead of election-FT

The FT says that former Chancellor Darling kept the UK deficit GBP6-7 bln below Gordon Brown’s assumptions ahead of the election, realizing the extra spending would not help Labour at the ballot box.

So claims a veritable love letter to Darling in the Saturday FT.
