A magnitude 6.7 earthquake hit Japan on Saturday, destroying buildings and injuring at least 39 people. The damage centered near Hakuba, a ski resort area that was the main event venue for the 1998 Winter Olympics.
Nearby nuclear plants didn’t report any problems but markets will be on guard for any larger follow-up earthquakes.
