Latvian central bank governor speaking to the media
- "I am the target of campaign to damage Latvia's reputation"
- Says that all allegations against him are false
- And that banks are coordinating their moves against him
- Says he won't resign as Latvian central bank governor
Rimsevics was freed from detention yesterday, after he was arrested on charges related to corruption.
He was initially detained over the weekend by the anti-corruption agency. Nothing to really impact the euro given all that's going on, but the embroilment certainly doesn't help it either. EUR/USD now down to 1.2340 near session lows. Same goes for EUR/GBP, now at 0.8812.
