Eurozone November CPI figures in focus

Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you're all doing well as we get into the final day of the trading week. It's a quiet start to things as markets are preparing for the main event to come i.e. Trump-Xi summit. The G-20 summit begins later today in Buenos Aires but the two leaders are only expected to have bilateral talks on trade tomorrow.

There's quite a bit on the data docket later today but the economic releases shouldn't be too impactful as a whole. In the meantime, watch out for headlines to come on the trade front and also from Italy and Brexit.

0700 GMT - Germany October retail sales data

Prior release can be found here. One of the earlier Q4 hard data figures to be released out of Germany. Consumption has been a little lackluster so let's see if Q4 will start to see any rebound. A minor data point.

0700 GMT - Germany October import prices data

Prior release can be found here. A proxy to inflationary pressures but a lagging one as we already had CPI figures - even for November - released. Low-tier data.

0700 GMT - UK November Nationwide house price index

Prior release can be found here. A rough gauge of housing market sentiment in the UK economy. Not a major release by any means.

0745 GMT - France November preliminary CPI figures

Prior report can be found here. A bit of a primer ahead of the Eurozone figures to be released later. Expectation much like the German readings yesterday is for a slightly softer touch on inflation this month.

0800 GMT - Switzerland November KOF leading indicator index

Prior release can be found here. The data here measures the future trends of overall economic activity in the Swiss economy. Low-tier data.

1000 GMT - Eurozone October unemployment rate

Prior release can be found here. Labour market conditions are expected to tighten further in the latest reading here with the unemployment rate expected at 8.0%. A minor data point.

1000 GMT - Italy November preliminary CPI figures

Prior report can be found here. Focus will be on the Eurozone readings released at the same time so this is very much a negligible release.

1000 GMT - Eurozone November preliminary CPI figures

Prior report can be found here. Headline inflation is expected to slip a little on the month but expectation is for the core reading to hold steady. The latter will be the key focus in the release here and if it does indeed hold up, then the ECB can at least breathe a sigh of relief.

1100 GMT - Italy Q3 final GDP figures

Flash readings can be found here. Unless economic growth is worse than initially feared, the release here should be of little meaning to markets.

There's also a couple of ECB speakers to come later in the day but I'll put that up in another post. I wish you all the best of days ahead and as always, good luck with your trading!
