A preview of what's to come in the European trading session

Howdy, everyone! I hope you all had a good weekend, and that you're all well-rested for the new week! It's a bit of a central bank bonanza as well this week, as we have the RBA, RBNZ, and BOE all meeting and we have quite a number of central bank speakers on the line-up as well (Draghi to start things off later today, but his talk concerns the ECB's annual report for 2016, so yeah).

The market has been a little quiet with the main talk being in equities as Asian stocks are being routed heavily - following the losses sustained in US and European trading on Friday.

Anyway, here's what is coming up on the trading session:

0815 GMT - Spain January services PMI

0845 GMT - Italy January services PMI

Prior readings can be found here (Spain and Italy). Just a general sentiment indicator for the Eurozone, minor data points.

0850 GMT - France January final services/composite PMI

0855 GMT - Germany January final services/composite PMI

0900 GMT - Eurozone January final services/composite PMI

Preliminary readings can be found here (France, Germany, and Eurozone). These are the final readings, so not much of a reaction is expected unless they come in as a massive miss/beat - but highly unlikely. And even so, they are relatively minor data points.

0900 GMT - SNB sight deposits w.e. 2 February

Your weekly check of the deposits kept at the SNB by Swiss banks. This data point used to matter a bit more post-EUR/CHF floor removal, when people were looking for signs of intervention by the SNB - but it hasn't been a key data point since then.

0930 GMT - UK January services/composite PMI

The big data point on the day. Prior readings can be found here. The expected figure this time around is for 54.1. If it's a big hit or miss, expect some relatively decent reaction in sterling on the release.

0930 GMT - Eurozone February Sentix investor confidence

Prior reading can be found here. Just a general sentiment indicator of the Eurozone economy, not a major data point.

1000 GMT - Eurozone December retail sales data

Prior data can be found here. A minor one, but provides an indicator of consumer sentiment towards the Eurozone economies.

That's about it from European trading. No relevant speakers apart from Draghi but his speech is due in the US session at 1600 GMT. Oh, and Powell is due to be sworn in as Fed chair two hours earlier than that.

Okay, I wish you all a great day ahead and as always, good luck with your trading!
