There are plenty of concerns here for stocks in the region, not just poor sentiment from Wall St. Germany is still facing concerns that global trade worries will weigh further on the economy and potential auto tariffs are also clouding the outlook. And France is starting to slip into trouble as riots and protests threaten to present uncertainty surrounding president Macron's future.
Meanwhile, Italy is also still not in the clear yet as budget issues still remain as the government is unable to reach a consensus on the deficit target to propose to the European Commission. That doesn't make for the kind of stuff you'd want for a Santa Claus rally.
E-minis are currently down by 0.5% on the day but they're off the lows so that's helping with some bit-part recovery here but expect sentiment to remain tepid throughout the session.
