Not much change from yesterday
The European major stock indices are ending the session unchanged to up. The German Dax and Portugal PSI20 lag:
- German Dax is ending unchanged
- France's Cac is up 0.3%
- UK FTSE is up 0.6%
- Spain's Ibex is up 0.4%
- Italy's FTSE MIB is up 0.17%
- Portugal's PSI20 is unchanged
In the 10 year debt market today, yields are near unchanged levels from yesterday's closing levels:
- Germany 0.447%, up 0.7 bp
- France 0.731%, unchanged
- UK 1.356%, down 1.2 bp
- Spain 1.627%, unchanged
- Italy 2.107%, unchanged
- Portugal 2.431%, unchanged
- Greece 5.551%, down -0.7 bp
The snapshot of the currencies near the London close shows the AUD is the strongest currency now, while the GBP remains the weakest.
In other markets at the NY midday:
- Spot gold is up $4.42 or 0.34% at $1295.53. The high extended to $1298.83. There is a safe haven flow into gold as the weekend approaches (and risk of N. Korea tensions rises)
- WTI crude oil is down -$0.06 to $50.49
- US yields are down but off lows. The 2 year is at 1.435%, down -0.3 bp. 5 year is 1.8664%, down -1.9 bp. 10 year is at 2.2552%, down -2.1 bp. 30 year is 2.7941%, down -1.0 bp
- The US stock indices are trading modestly lower. S&P is down -1.8 points to 2498.93. Nasdaq is down -7.4 points or -0.12% at 6414.86. Dow is down -29 point ro -0.13% to 22329.
