Barnier says December can work after all

The word 'deadline' lost all meaning in politics a long time ago but through the European debt crisis, Greek restructuring and now Brexit negotiations, EU leaders have pushed it to comical levels.

Back in August, EU chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier said October was the deadline for an agreement.

Later, he pushed that back and said a deal had to be reached "certainly not later than the beginning of November" and "November at the latest".

Now that deadline is about to be blown and EU leaders are said to be planning a December 13 summit for a deal.
