COPENHAGEN (MNI) – U.S. inflation may be lower than expected this
year, giving the Federal Reserve “some flexibility” for increased
monetary policy accommodation, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston President
Eric Rosengren said Thursday.
Speaking at a conference here, Rosengren said inflation as measured
by personal consumption expenditures is likely to come in at 1.7% this
year.
“I think we are going to undershoot on inflation,” he said. That
fact should provide “some flexibility for increased monetary policy
accommodation.”
