I signed off on Friday by saying I was off to take part in a Q&A session at the IFS University College in London and I'm delighted to welcome those students and staff to these pages
The initiative was all part of the follow-up to my recent re-acquaintance with my former economic tutor John Hearn, an eminent monetarist who has shared debating platforms with various luminaries including a number of MPC members, and who has posted on these pages providing much discussion in the comments section
I was joined by a good friend of mine, former Chief Dealer Foreign Exchange at the Bank of England and contributor to ForexLive, Jim Trott and between us we answered a series of questions on topics ranging from the SNB, to Bitcoin, QE,market liquidity, can the euro survive and the future of forex markets, with the event chaired by John
No text exists to publish here as it was a relatively informal occasion and we were keen to hear what the students wanted to ask us rather than pick a topic that was perhaps not of such particular interest to them. We have, however, discussed possibilities of returning to present more detailed sessions in the future and if so then we will look to publish the presentation here as part of our on-going mission to bring you the very best in forex education
A few of the students are already trading ( much against my better advice!) and I will draw your attention to our guest trader Luke Mumford who found himself at Uni and trading forex with a certain lack of success before finding some good support and inspiration from the ForexLive community as his go-to site. I hope therefore that we can provide a similar platform for all those who want to put into practice what they've learnt albeit with my repeating here the health warning that comes for all the those who decide to enter the fickle world of foreign exchange!
A big thank-you to John, Sandra and Daniella for inviting us to take part on Friday and we hope that this is the start of a long and mutually beneficial relationship with your esteemed establishment.
