BERLIN (MNI) – The German Bank Association (BDB) expects that
German banks fared well in the European banking stress tests, BDB
managing director Manfred Weber told German national radio
Deutschlandfunk (DLF) in an interview aired Friday.
Weber said he believed the stress test results of German banks went
“well overall” and would calm financial markets.
The BDB managing director rejected criticism that the stress test
criteria were too soft. If a bank passed the test, it is a proof that it
has enough capital to weather difficult situations, he reckoned.
On Thursday, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported that all
of Germany’s state-owned Landesbank passed the test.
