A lower count amid the new year period but perhaps some early signs that the virus situation is starting to abate
The count in the last few days has been on the lower side but that could be in part due to the new year holidays, so we'll see how the trend develops in the coming week to be sure. But at least the number of deaths is starting to ease as well.
Another 302 deaths were reported today, bringing the total tally to 34,574. Meanwhile, the lower case count sees active cases ease to ~339,800 as of the latest count.
In terms of healthcare capacity, there are 5,762 (+36) coronavirus patients requiring intensive care with there being 4,657 (18%) intensive care beds still available.
