BERLIN (MNI) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel will discuss
economic issues with U.S. President Barack Obama at the sidelines of a
summit on nuclear security which takes place on Monday and Tuesday in
Washington, a German government source said Monday.

The senior German official said Merkel and Obama in their bilateral
talks will “surely” address the state of the global economy and “at
which point we are now in the crisis.”

The talks will also touch the subject of financial market
regulation and plans for a bank levy, he added.

Merkel is due to give a statement in Berlin ahead of her trip to
the U.S. at around 9:30 GMT today.
