BERLIN (MNI) – German Economics Minister Rainer Bruederle Tuesday
called for tax cuts to be passed in the current legislature, which runs
until autumn 2013, in order to support the economic upswing.

“In the year 2011 it won’t be possible, but 2012, 2013 will be the
period when we have to tackle” tax cuts, Bruederle told German ARD
public television.

“We have to do it…to stabilise the [economic] growth path, which
is very pleasant,” the minister explained. Bruederle said he aims to
lower income tax rates on medium-sized incomes but not on the top income
bracket.
