German chancellor out on the wires with some UK-bullish talk
Merkel is speaking at an EU conference on migration and not missing the chance to re-iterate her support for UK PM Cameron as his quest for support on reforms continues .
The EU summit takes place tomorrow and Friday.
- I am convinced that it is in our national interest that the UK stays a strong active partner in strong EU
- We need UK's economic outlook, we need the UK's foreign policy power for a strong UK in EU
- Many of PM Cameron's EU demands are justified and necessary
- Our common goal is to dramatically decrease the immigration numbers, while still helping those who really need our help
- We have to ensure that the EU is able to find answers to the big global questions facing EU
