Comment from Jeffrey Currie, head of commodities research at Goldman Sachs

Managing to combine the Fed, oil prices and emerging markets all into one sentence:

  • Says the Federal Reserve may "leave a lot of negative uncertainty in emerging markets," which might affect oil demand, if it doesn't raise rates at the meeting today

Bloomberg with the headline, but no further detail

And with that I'll leave you in Mike's capable hands for the Europe/UK shift.

A lot of people say the Fed won't hike because of the uncertainty.

I reckon they will, cause not doing so will just leave more uncertainty.

Its a near line ball call, and there are solid arguments on both sides of the debate. But I'm erring on the 'hike' call today!

Good luck all.

ps ... don't trade it ... it's a gamble (IMO) and that's not why we do this stuff. There'll be plenty of opportunities following. All IMHO, of course, and best of luck for those trading over the announcement/press conference.
