ATHENS (MNI) – Greece late Wednesday reaffirmed its intention to
fully implement its fiscal reform program, following a teleconference
between Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou, French President Nicolas
Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The following is a statement issued by a government spokesman in
Athens:

“The full implementation of the July 21st decisions is a common
target of Papandreou, Merkel, Sarkozy. The rumor mill of the past few
days is being set straight by all — Greece is an integral part of the
Eurozone.

Greece is determined to implement all obligations and fully execute
the fiscal consolidation program.

The cabinet’s decisions and the additional measures that have been
announced can help achieve the 2011 and 2012 fiscal targets and create
primary surpluses.

This will safeguard the Greek economy and will halt the expansion
of the public debt and help the country towards recovery.”
