Early estimate of possible $90B in damages, from flooding alone.

Flooding from Hurricane Sandy’s storm surge may cause $90 billion in damage to nearly 300,000 properties in the superstorm’s path, says the analytics firm CoreLogic.

Hurricane Katrina caused an estimated $81B in damages, which was almost double the cost of any other US hurricane.

Update: another analyst saying $3-6 billion. Where do they get these numbers from?
