BERLIN (MNI) – The decision on increasing the International
Monetary Fund’s financial resources might only be taken at the G20
summit in June, Paulo Noguiera Batista, the IMF executive director for
Brazil and a group of other Latin American and Caribbean countries, said
in a newspaper interview published Sunday.

In the interview with Germany’s weekly Der Spiegel, Batista
criticized the Eurozone for increasing its firewall against the crisis
“less than promised.”

Thus, it is not certain that the decision on increasing the IMF’s
resources will be taken at the Fund’s upcoming spring gathering, Batista
said in the interview.
