Coveney is commenting here after Irish prime minister Leo Varadkar met up with the DUP last night to discuss on the backstop issue.

There were hints that the DUP may be subtly shifting their stance on the matter but Ireland appears quick to shoot down any potential breakthrough that could happen.

Cable is still trading near highs for the day at 1.2490 currently, testing key resistance levels still as the pound holds firmer amid a softer dollar on the session.
