Italy's Di Maio says goal of the budget is not to reassure markets

Comments by Italy's deputy prime minister Luigi Di Maio

  • The goal is to improve conditions for Italians
  • We will find room for pension reforms, citizens' income
  • Government needs to implement measures promised to voters
  • Has full confidence in finance minister Tria
Saying that he wants to push for all those measures isn't really a vote of confidence for Tria - who does not want those in the budget - in my view. Feels very much like they're playing with smoke and mirrors at this point.
