JAPAN DATA: Auto industry vehicle output in March tumbled 57.3%
from a year earlier to 404,039 units as the March 11 earthquake shut
down production, the sixth straight monthly fall, data released today by
the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association shows. The March output
was the lowest for the month of March since 1969 when output totaled
385,320. In the whole of fiscal 2010, vehicle output rose 1.5% to 8.99
million units, the first rise in three years.
