JAPAN DATA: Department store sales in Japan posted a third straight
month of a year-on-year fall in May, as consumers remained wary about
buying big-ticket items in the aftermath of the March 11 earthquake,
data released by the Japan Department Store Association shows. Sales
fell 2.4% last month following declines of 1.5% in April and 14.7% in
March.
