JAPAN DATA: New vehicle sales in Japan fell for an 11th straight
month in July, as weak domestic demand more than offset carmakers’
efforts to restore production at quake-ravaged facilities and supply
chains, data from the Japan Automobile Dealers Association showed today.
New vehicle sales fell 27.6% last month from a year earlier to 241,472
units. The July reading followed a 23.3% drop in June, a 37.8% fall in
May and a record 51.0% decline in April.
