JAPAN DATA: The average summer bonus to be paid at 132 companies
listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange will be Y688,146
per union worker, up 6.4% from a year earlier, marking a second
consecutive year of an increase, according to a survey compiled by the
Institute of Labour Administration. The survey, which was conducted
after the March 11 earthquake between March 16 and April 15, found the
average summer bonus payment at 101 manufacturers will rise 8.1% to
Y692,386 from a year earlier, while the average seasonal bonus at 31
non-manufacturers will climb 1.2% to Y674,330.
