Some headlines on the wires re comments from Japanese finance minister Aso, asked about the increase in sales tax:
- Would have to maintain fiscal discipline if the government changes use of sales tax revenue
(PM Abe has indicated he may divert some sales tax revenue to education spending).
So, not a direct comment on the planned hike in the sales tax (the current plan is for a hike in October 2019 from the current 8% to 10%)
