— Japan Noda: Priority Now Is To Implement 1st Extra Budget
TOKYO (MNI) – Japanese Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda on Friday
called for a “thorough assessment” on the need to compile a small-scale
second supplementary budget immediately to finance reconstruction of
quake-hit northeastern areas.
Some politicians from the ruling Democratic Party of Japan have
argued for submitting a small second extra budget during the current
150-day ordinary parliamentary session that ends on June 22, in order to
support reconstruction projects.
Noda said the government’s priority now is to steadily implement
its first disaster-response supplementary budget worth about Y4
trillion.
The government should present a more precise blueprint for the
reconstruction process before compiling a second extra budget for the
current fiscal year that began on April 1, he said.
