What to watch for
Economic data is light today for North American traders. There is no Canadian news scheduled while for the US, the lone release is the February JOLTS report at 1400 GMT (10 am ET). The consensus is for 7550K job openings compared to 7581K in January.
The main event of the day affects all countries and currencies with the IMF set to release its latest national and global growth forecasts at the top of the hour (1300 GMT).
US was seen at 2.5% for 2019 but that's likely to tick down closer to 2%. The latest forecasts were released Jan 21 and economic data in most of the world has disappointed since. The global forecast was 3.5% worldwide this year and 3.6% in 2020.
Later the focus will be on the Fed with Quarles speaking at 2100 GMT. However this one might be a dud as the topic is financial rules.
At 2245 GMT, Fed vice-chair Clarida speaks in Minneapolis on the outlook. The market is 50/50 on a rate cut before year-end but the latest Fed commentary has been less dovish so there could be some push-back, which might lift the US dollar.
