USD/JPY is back above 84.20 on the Shirakawa comments (not sure that he actually said anything useful) whilst D/FinMin Sakurai “washed his hands” of questioning saying the BOJ knows what it is doing – OH REALLY.
Elsewhere GBP/USD is a little heavy finding it hard to get away from its 1.5806 intraday low. A hawkish as ever MPC member Sentance extract from a paper he has written may be weighing a touch but all up nothing we haven’t heard before from Mr Sentance. AsI write, GBP/USD has just broke below 1.5800 briefly (obviously looking for weak stops).
