As mentioned before this, one of the least talked about gauges of a recession is how often lawmakers and policymakers start commenting on one. If there aren't genuine concerns or worries, we wouldn't be here mentioning the prospects of one happening.
Sure, we may escape it this year but it's premature to assume that next year will be plain sailing considering the state of the global economy currently.
