MNI China Business Indicator:

• 50.2 in February from 52.2 in January
• Fell for the second consecutive month in February to its lowest level for five years

The Future Expectations Indicator (measures business conditions in three months’ time)

• 50.6 in February from 57.9 the previous month
• Lowest reading since the series began in March 2007

While the data is seasonally adjusted, accounting for the impact of the Lunar New Year can be difficult. The February and March data in aggregate would provide a clearer guide to the underlying trend.
