The fiscal cliff is a minefield of risks but it appears that the US credit rating is safe — at least in the near-term.

Moody’s says, in an interview with the WSJ, it would wait to decide on the US credit rating if the fiscal cliff is triggered. They also say that a decision on whether to downgrade the US will come sometime in 2013.

Overall, Moody’s will be patient with the negotiations but will be quick to downgrade if they don’t result in a better debt trajectory.
