Further comments by UK Brexit secretary Dominic Raab

  • We need a bridge between end of transition and start of new relationship
  • But cannot be one that will be locked in indefinitely

Raab further reiterating and shooting down a possible proposal by the EU on a UK-wide customs union agreement that would require Northern Ireland to be treated separately. There was a reported offer earlier in the week that helped the pound move up a little but it was short-lived as the viability of that is not one that Britain would accept.

Meanwhile, Raab is also still trying to push the case of the extension to the transition period. It's a slippery slope when it comes to stuff like that. You extend it once, there's always a chance of extending it another time, and another, and then another... You get the point.
