Bill English sees the widening of the yuan bands as a positive for New Zealand.
After a meeting with Chinese politburo standing commitee official Jia Qinglin he opined “any extra flexibility that comes into their foreign exchange management is a positive for New Zealand.”
Mr English went on to say that New Zealand gets caught between the US keeping it’s curency low “making exporting a bit less profitable” and ” the China government on the face of it not allowing their currency to rise” adding “if either of them change their policies to give more flexibility,,,that will benefit New Zealand.”
