Tokyo's main index pretty much flat on the day

Not much change in the Nikkei on the day, though surrendering early gains. Tech is higher, and the index was mostly dragged down by consumer staples.
In other Asian markets, the Hang Seng is down 0.42%, Shanghai Composite down 0.55%, CSI 300 down 1.33%. The Kospi is one of the few bright spots as it is up 0.74% on the day while the other indices look to have turned negative as we near the closing hours.
Earlier, Australia's ASX 200 closed higher by 0.42% at 6,075.40.
