Our cousins across the wall have been discussing what to do with Her majesty’s pound should they gain independence.

A UK treasury spokesperson has opined that that their own Scottish pound could fall in value against the UK pound.

Tomorrow the UK government publish an analysis of of the implications of Scottish independence and suggest that “confidence in the convertibility ” of Scottish bank notes may be affected by independence.

For those unaware Scotland are allowed to produce their own GBP bank notes which are accepted throughout the UK (usually). I may be wrong but I believe they still have a £1 note which was replaced in the rest of the UK with a £1 coin.
