-Job Advert for BOE King Successor Published This Week

LONDON (MNI) – The identity of Bank of England Governor Mervyn
King’s successor will be announced by the end of this year, Chancellor
of the Exchequer George Osborne told parliament.

Osborne said the post would be advertised publicly later this week.
King’s term is set to expire at the end of June 2013, but Osborne wants
King’s successor known well before then.

“I have decided that the appointment of his successor will be
conducted through a fair and open competition. For the first time in
history the post will be advertised and the advertisement will appear in
the press later this week,” King said.

“We are seeking a Governor of intelligence, independence and
integrity. We intend to announce the successful candidate by the end of
the year, he added.

He described King as an “outstanding” Governor.
