The second quarter of 2014 was another good stretch for most major equity markets. It was a tight contest at the top but Spanish stocks proved to be a better bet than Spanish football.

The worst performer was Italy’s MIB, down 1.88% in the quarter but — not to worry — Italian shares are still the best performers this year with a 12.2% gain.
