Nikkei reports that Taro Aso will remain finance minister in cabinet shuffle

Aso was Prime Minister in 2008-09 when it was musical-chairs in the PMs office. He's been a key driver of Abenomics as finance minister.

Nikkei also reports that Yoshihide Suga will remain as cabinet spokesman.

None of this is a surprise but the takeaway is that Abe has no intention of changing his playbook. Abenomics means printing and spending with a side dish of slow structural reform.

It's yet another signal that the government is preparing to 'go big' with another round of stimulus and central bank experimentation in order to finally break Japan out of its never-ending cycle of low growth.
