Taliban official on Turkey's Haberturk TV
A Taliban official on Turkey's Haverturn TV is reportedly saying:
- Targeting innocent civilians is an act of terrorism that whole world should condemn
- As soon as the airport situation is figured out, and the foreign forces leave, we will not have such attacks anymore
- Referring to explosions, airport, that it was because of the presence of foreign forces that such attacks take place
Needless to say, the situation is a chicken and egg scenario. The US and other allies will have a presence until those that want to get out, are able to get out.
The reported bombing by ISIS -K which is described as "mortal enemies of the Taliban" muddies the waters for any evacuation. Of course, the Taliban is not choirboys when it comes to terroristic acts either.
It's a mess and likely to stay a mess going forward. However, it should not cause a lasting influence on the markets.
