PARIS (MNI) – The following is the text of the overview of the
Bank of France’s May monthly business survey:
SUMMARY
In May, industrial activity edged slightly higher relative to the
previous month. All sectors recorded an increase except for the
automotive industry.
The capacity utilisation rate crept up somewhat, while remaining
below its long-term average.
Order books remained close to normal levels.
Inventories of final goods continued to stand at targeted levels.
Short-term forecasts point towards stable levels of production.
Activity in the services sector remains robust, driven by the
temporary work sector and IT activities.
Prices remained stable overall, while staff levels posted a very
small rise.
The outlook for activity indicates a more moderate increase in
activity over the coming months.
